Haugar

Back in 1993 Hauger was still a ”dream” project with two or three architects having already

made preliminary sketches of possible routings. Finally the Swedish contractor NCC contacted

course architect Jeremy Turner to design what today is regarded as a fairly stern golfing challenge

in delightful countryside north of Oslo.

The course is located in fairly undulating terrain with plenty of scope for creating a dramatic scenario

for the golfing experience. In spite of being built on heavy, silty clay the turf of Hauger is surprisingly

tight and fast.

Playability-wise Hauger is something of a monster – at times difficult to score on when the wind blows

- and always a physically demanding challenge. The interesting green complexes are often undulating

and guarded by strategically placed bunkers. The course offers plenty of variety, and a layout that is

both dynamic and well-balanced.

It has been ranked by Golf Digest USA in recent years as number 1 in Norway
